Student Support
The college ensures to provide support to international students to adjust to study and life in Australia, to achieve their learning goals.To ensure this support the college provides all registering students with an age and culturally sensitive orientation programme covering information regarding:
support services available to assist in the transition into life and study in Australia;
legal services;
emergency and health services;
facilities and resources;
complaints and appeals processes;
Information on visa conditions relating to course progress and attendance.
The college through the Registrar, Student Services Department provides access to services which are designed to assist students in meeting course requirements and maintaining their attendance.
Upon request all students may access support services, including accessing their current and cumulative course progress and attendance records, the Language Numeracy and Literacy support , Internet and Computing facilities. These services are provided at no additional cost to the student. If the college refers the student to external support services, the college will not charge for the referral.
Student Support Services
All students enrolling at MANCHESTER COLLEGE are assigned a student contact person. This person has the role of helping students cope Manchester Collegeh the many challenges students face when studying away from their home country. Every effort is made to assist students to make the transition to their new surroundings and help them feel at home. We regularly consult Manchester Collegeh students to gather feedback on their experience at MANCHESTER COLLEGE and continually develop and improve our services accordingly. Working in Australia
Working in Australia can be fun and a great way to make friends. The current student visa entitles students to apply for a part-time work permit, which allows international students to work up to 20 hours per week during semester, and full-time during holidays. Australian immigration laws allow students to work for a limited number of hours, however under no circumstances students can rely on income earned in Australia to pay tuition fees. Medical and Health Services
Overseas Student Health Cover
International students are required to obtain a private health cover by joining a private health insurance scheme. The premium cover must be paid before a student visa is issued. It covers the cost of medical and hospital care which international students may need while in Australia and will also pay for most prescription drugs and emergency ambulance transport. WIT can arrange health cover for you before you come to Australia, if you choose to pay the health cover charges with your tuition fees.
Please be mindful that WIT does not take any responsibility if you do not pay or make prior arrangements for your overseas student health cover.
